Successful trip to Cornwall
Forest of Dean Brass had a successful trip to West of England Bandsmen's Festival held in the lovely village of Bugle. Winning both March (Unconquered – Arthur W. Gullidge) and test piece (Ad Undas – Gareth Churcher) prize for the first section under the baton of guest conductor Gareth Ritter.
Gareth said after the result
It’s been a real pleasure working with Forest of Dean Brass over the past few weeks, their hard work and dedication paid off yesterday with them winning both the March and Test piece competition at the Bugle Brass Band contest in Cornwall. Big congratulations to all the soloists, especially Jim on soprano for winning the best instrumentalist, what an absolute master of the soprano. Thanks to my best mate Robin Hackett for his invaluable work with the trombones, it really paid off.
I’ve been made to feel so welcome and the band delivered on stage two great performances to beat off their rivals. Big thanks to Tracy and Wayne for giving me lifts.
Good luck for the future all, a great band to play for if anyone is looking for something new.
